On 6 February 2007, during their third work meeting, initiated by TANZPLAN, representatives of national institutions for education in dance created a national lobby. Under the name "Ausbildungskonferenz Tanz" (AKT) and as a voice that actively engages with the current discussions surrounding dance education, its aim is to strengthen professional dance education in Germany.
This was achieved among other things though the repesentation of common interests in national committees, the intensification of co-operation while simultaneously sharpening the individual institutions' profiles alongside networking with further international partners.
The first step of Ausbildungskonferenz Tanz was the realisation of the 1st "Biennale Tanzausbildung", which took place 2008 in Berlin, 2010 in Essen, 2012 in Frankfurt and afterwards will take place at varying locations.
Ausbildungskonferenz Tanz is a platform that, similar to the theatre meeting of acting schools and art colleges, strives to make students' projects and their work known to a broad public.
