CROSSOVER Scholarship 2022

Josefine Simonsen receives the CROSSOVER scholarship from KunstSalon e.V.

The CROSSOVER Scholarship is a funding project of KunstSalon e.V., sponsored by KunstSalon-Stiftung. Since 2017 it supports financially and structurally a graduate of the ZZT. With the scholarship, KunstSalon would like to support young dancers who are at the beginning of their career and strengthen the further development of young dance talent in Cologne. In order to promote the individual work focus of the graduate and thus also to reflect the broad spectrum of support of the foundation, Josefine Simonsen will receive support in the amount of € 1,500. In addition, free participation in various professional trainings of the Freie Szene Köln as well as 12 months of support and consulting in the areas of networking and public relations will be made possible.

Scholarship for final year projects on gender-related issues 2022

Tamora Dinklage and Dimitrios Vasilakis receive scholarships from the Equal Opportunities Commission of the HfMT Köln for their BA projects on gender-related issues.

In 2022, the Equal Opportunity Commission will award six scholarships of €500 each for final projects and theses with gender-related issues. In this way, the commission aims to promote the continuous development of gender-related research as well as the encouragement and support of gender-focused seminar papers and theses in order to provide new impetus in gender research at the university. Tamora Dinklage receives one of these scholarships for her bachelor thesis "I see you seeing me", a dance performance and walk-in installation for three dancers. Another scholarship is awarded to Dimitrios Vasilakis for his final project "Training For No Future", in which performers jointly explore the body, space and temporality of digital realities and their connections to queerness.

STIBET Scholarship 2022

The aim of the graduation scholarship is to give foreign students the opportunity to complete their studies in a concentrated manner. The graduation scholarship is aimed at all foreign students who have achieved good academic results and will graduate within the current university year. Here, financial support is granted for a maximum of six months and paid for the last semester of your studies. In 2022, Darya Myasnikova will receive the STIBET scholarship.

Dis-Tanz-Solo

Margherita Dello Sbarba, BA Dance graduate, receives scholarship-like funding Dis-Tanz-Solo.

With their jointly developed and co-ordinated national dance-promotion programme, the Umbrella Association for Dance in Germany, the non-profit cultural organisation Diehl+Ritter and Joint Adventures / National Performance Network are part of the Neustart Kultur rescue and future-support programme launched by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media. The scholarship-like support Dis-Tanz-Solo refers to the promotion of projects of dance creators that involve researching, further educating and developing their work as well as organizing, documenting and archiving their projects and that are dedicated to the partly invisible areas of artistic work. Projects are supported that recalibrate and reflect on their own working methods, expand knowledge and formulate innovative ways of working.

#TakeCareResidenzen

Katharina Senzenberger receives stipend-like funding from the #TakeCare initiative.

Fonds Darstellende Künste is updating the successful #TakeCare initiative to strengthen free-producing artists affected by Corona - facilitaded by NEUSTART KULTUR – giving support for the cultural and media field financed by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media (BKM). The grant-like funding is aimed at independent performing artists to further their artistic development in the wake of the pandemic. For the projects funded in #TakeCare, the artistic idea as well as open-ended and production-independent activities are at the center. Emphasis is placed on content-related explorative projects, such as research to generate content and future concept development, as well as all activities aimed at stabilizing artistic activities.

Scholarship of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation 2021

After a successful application process, Emma Stacey was accepted as a scholarship holder of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation.

The Rosa Luxemburg Foundation supports students with special academic achievements as well as pronounced social commitment in the spirit of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation. The Foundation aims to contribute to democracy, social justice and solidarity as well as to the equalization of social, gender or ethnic disadvantages through political education. The scholarship holders are supported until the end of their studies within the framework of the standard period of study. In addition to financial support, the scholarship holders can also participate in various workshops and seminars.

Deutschlandstipendium 2020

Marisa Berg, Jana Griess and Kilian Löderbusch receive the Deutschlandstipendium.

The Deutschlandstipendium offers selected, particularly gifted and committed students who, in addition to excellent academic achievements, also assume social responsibility and/or have successfully mastered obstacles in their own lives and educational path, a reliable additional source of funding, initially for a period of one year.

Scholarship of the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes 2020

After a successful application process and auditions, Ander Ballarin was accepted as a scholarship holder of the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes (German Academic Scholarship Foundation).

The Studienstiftung supports students whose talent and personality aim to serve the public good. The scholarship holders partake in shaping our society in many different ways and are being supported financially within the standard period of study until the end of their studies. In addition to financial support, the scholarship holders can also benefit from the non-material program of the Studienstiftung. The networking of the scholarship holders – among themselves and with renowned academics and artists – is an important factor. The provision of additional scholarships and language courses makes it easier to go abroad and thus to engage with other cultures and lifestyles. In addition, participation in conferences, concert series or residencies is offered.

Friedrich-Wendling-Preis 2020

Marisa Berg receives the Friedrich-Wendling-Preis.

The Friedrich-Wendling-Preis of the University for Music and Dance Cologne is awarded annually on recommendation of the relevant departments and honors a student of the university who is worthy of support. Criteria for the award are particularly high achievements in the academic field or a special commitment beyond the studies. In 2020, the prize, which is endowed with 600 €, was awarded to three students from study programs with emphasis on academic research.

Scholarship for final year projects on gender-related issues 2020

Katharina Senzenberger receives a scholarship from the Equal Opportunities Commission of the HfMT Köln for her final year project on gender-related issues.

The HfMT Köln seeks to ensure a non-discriminatory environment and to cultivate respectful, courteous, and professional interactions between students and staff. The university is committed to creating an environment that is free of discrimination. Moreover, it supports the personal growth and equal opportunity of its students and staff and the protection of their personal rights. The Equal Opportunities Commission of the HfMT Köln awards five scholarships of €500 each for final year projects on gender-related issues in 2020. Katharina Senzenberger receives one of these scholarships for her bachelor thesis "Waves within", a dance performance and walk-in installation for two dancers of different gender.

Tanzwerkstatt Europa 2020

Josefine Simonsen receives a scholarship to participate at Tanzwerkstatt Europa 2020.

Every summer Tanzwerkstatt Europa brings together dancers, choreographers and dance enthusiasts in Munich, Germany for 10 days to train in various workshops and intensive sessions, to try out their own choreographic material, to exchange ideas and to see current works by renowned international artists. It offers a wide range of workshops and choreographic labs in the fields of contemporary dance, repertoire, performance and bodywork. It is a space for new ideas and aesthetics in contemporary dance and performance art, a hot spot of the international contemporary dance scene and a meeting point for dance professionals and enthusiasts from all over the world.

STIBET 2020

Brigitte Huero and Hrista Panayotova receive the STIBET 2020 scholarship for foreign students.

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) supports foreign students and PhD candidates at German universities with funds from the German Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt). The graduation scholarship STIBET is intended for all foreign students who have achieved outstanding academic results and graduate within one year. The financial support enables Brigitte Huezo and Hrista Panayotova to concentrate on their BA theses and successfully complete their studies.

Scholarship Berliner Festspiele 2019

Eloisa Arreola, Clara Mügge and Alina Reissmann receive the Scholarship Berliner Festspiele to participate in the Tanztreffen der Jugend 2019.

The Tanztreffen der Jugend (September 20-27,2019) is aimed at dancers, dance disseminators, choreographers, experienced theatre makers and students. It is divided into practice, dialogue and focus. This year's edition has two main themes: dance and film and the interaction between urban and so-called contemporary dance forms.

Cusanuswerk Scholarship 2019

Leo Gnatzy, 3rd year BA Dance student, receives a full scholarship from Cusanuswerk to participate in the 4-week NYC Summer Study Program at Gibney Dance in New York City, USA.

The NYC Summer Study Program at Gibney Dance introduces students to new and challenging ideas and movement styles and shares skills for a sustainable career in the performing arts. Students can participate in trainings and workshops, attend performances at various dance institutions in New York and meet local artists in seminars and panel discussions.

Audience Award at SoloDuo Festival 2019

Beomseok Jeong receives the audience award for his solo "H-I-P (Hustle it up)" at the SoloDuo Festival 2019 in Cologne.

Beomseok Jeong, 3rd year BA Dance student, was invited to the SoloDuo Festival in May 2019: from a total of 65 applications 22 artists/groups were selected, so that 10 solos and 12 duos from Germany, Italy, Spain, Greece and Israel competed in the 11th edition of the festival.

PROMOS Scholarship 2019

In 2019 Francesco D’Amelio, Margherita Dello Sbarba, Beljana Metje and Brigitte Vargas Huezo receive the DAAD-sponsored scholarship PROMOS.

The financial support allows them to participate in the intensive workshop "Passing Through and Flying Low" with David Zambrano at the Tic Tac Art Center in Brussels as well as the Summer Intensive "A-dos-cunhados" in Portugal.

NRW Young Talent Scholarship Freie Kinder- und Jugendtheater 2019

Valerie Wehrens receives the Young Talent Scholarship "Freie Kinder- und Jugendtheater 2019 des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen".

The NRW Young Talent Scholarship promotes the artistic development of the scholarship holders by financially supporting projects in cooperation with professional children's and youth theatres of the independent scene in NRW. For her project "RobodiesLab", in cooperation with the tanzhaus nrw, the specialist agency for youth media culture NRW and Jugend hackt, the MA Dance Studies student Valerie Wehrens is supported to create "RobodiesLab" within the framework of "HI, ROBOT! The Mensch Maschine Festival" and the "Metamarathon".

Brigitte Vargas Huezo participates in the annual project "Laboratory of Arts" at the Kolleg für Musik und Kunst in Montepuliciano, Italy. The Kolleg für Musik und Kunst Montepuliciano is a cooperation of the arts and music universities of North Rhine-Westphalia. It enables students and teachers of the participating universities to work and research interdisciplinary and artistically in order to open up new approaches to the arts – funded by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and the DAAD.

In 2018, Hong Pak Raphael Lau, Anna Kempin, Blue Sahiti, Miriam Arnold and Selina Koch receive the DAAD-sponsored PROMOS scholarship.

The financial support allows them to participate in the Deltebre Dansa Festival and the Paris Summer Academy.

In 2017, it is financially and structurally supporting a graduate of the Centre for Contemporary Dance (CCD) of the University for Music and Dance Cologne. With the scholarship, the KunstSalon would like to promote young dancers, who are at the beginning of their careers, and to strengthen the further development of young dance talent in Cologne. After graduating, the scholarship holder receives the CROSSOVER scholarship for 1,500 € to finance further training programs and auditions, ten cards worth € 500 for free participation in the professional training of the Center for Exchange and Innovation Cologne (ZAIK) and support press and public relations, and the establishment of a professional network for a period of 12 months.

In 2017 Alina Reißmann and Hannah Sampé receive the DAAD-sponsored scholarship PROMOS.

The financial support allows them to take part in the Gaga-Intensive Summer Course 2017 of the Batsheva Dance Company in Tel Aviv, Israel.

STIBET 2017

Sooyeon Kim is awarded the scholarship for foreign students STIBET 2017.

The financial support enables her to concentrate and complete successfully her BA-thesis. She is a co-founder of the dance collective "TachoTinta" with members from South Korea, Germany and Mexico.

DAAD Förderprogramm - Hochschuldialog mit der islamischen Welt

Elsa Artmann, Silvia Ehnis Duarte, Maximiliano Estudies, Anne-Lene Nöldner and Thea Soti have been selected to participate in the DAAD-funded project ATLAS Workshops (project coordinator: Udo Nehren / TH Cologne, Prof. Vera Sander / HfMT Cologne, project initiator: Norbert Dennig). It is an exchange project between Germany and Morocco. It allows the participants to pursue questions about artistic work in the intercultural and interdisciplinary context in workshops and labs in Agdz / Morocco and in Cologne / Germany.
